the Move
A MOBILE, AGILE WORKPLACE REQUIRES
THOSE SAME TRAITS FROM THEIR HR

As you have seen, this month’s is-sue
is structured around the
theme of “Working on the
Move.” As the world of work is
ever-changing, one of the critical shifts we
have seen is toward work that’s indepen-dent
of location – many workers are no
longer tied to a desk, an office, or even tra-ditional
hours of work.
We have also seen the challenges inher-ent
in these changes as they have evolved
– the 2013 pivot of tech giant Yahoo from
a highly mobile-based workforce to es-sentially
eliminating work-from-home
arrangements is one high-profile example.
Challenges, trial and error, discovery
and continuous learning are important el-ements
of these changes as we continue to
test and examine the effectiveness of re-mote
and mobile work settings. As HR
professionals, we are seeing more and
more of our workforce request a more ex-pansive
set of flexible work arrangements.
Regular telecommuting has grown 115
per cent in the past decade, according to
Global Workplace Analytics. The en-tire
work-at-home population is 10 to 15
